Project Description
Bayridge Public School got a complete facelift over the summer with changes to the entrance, play area, sports field and landscaping. With students headed back to class after Labour Day, the timeline was tight for this project. After encountering unforeseen challenges with unknown buried services and delayed permits, the Morven team stepped up to the challenge to deliver. Key areas of the project were completed in time for the school reopening and the remaining elements were finished with increased safety considerations for staff and students.
The Morven team upgraded the storm water system including new sewers, catch basins and maintenance holes. In addition, the majority of asphalt paving and granular base for staff parking and the playground area was replaced.
Students can now enjoy their play area with new engineered wood fiber safety features. The sports field has been completely regraded and restored with natural turf and outdoor seating areas were created with armour stone. Basketball nets and bicycle racks were also installed.
In order to improve safety and traffic flow, the school’s entrance and student drop-off area were completely reconfigured, and a separate entrance was constructed for buses. Keeping a green perspective, Morven constructed timber planting gardens with accessible planting tables and a composting area. Recycling and waste collection has been streamlined with a new Western Red Cedar enclosure on a concrete base.
