Project Description
Morven Construction completed a 9-week project for the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) at Prince Charles Public School in Belleville to address congestion during student drop-off and pick-up times. The project involved the construction of a new drop-off loop to improve traffic flow and student safety.
Work included excavation, granular placement, and the installation of new asphalt surfaces. Designated vehicle entry and exit points were created, along with short-term parking areas, all marked with clear signage. New concrete curbs and sidewalks with designated crossing areas were installed to ensure the safety of students during peak times.
To improve overall site drainage, stormwater runoff was directed to a containment pond with flow discharge controls to the City’s storm system. A new perimeter chain-link fence was also installed to enclose the newly constructed area. Despite a delayed start, Morven Construction increased resources and successfully completed the project ahead of schedule during the summer school closure, providing a safer and more efficient drop-off and pick-up zone for the school community.
