Project Description
Morven Construction completed a five-month road upgrade project on Innovation Drive for the City of Kingston to support the sale of industrial land and facilitate the development of new parcels. The project involved stripping vegetation, removing culverts and an asphalt walkway, and then upgrading the road by widening both sides, placing full-depth granular material, and paving with asphalt according to city specifications.
New infrastructure included catch basins, a ditch inlet structure, 600 meters of subdrain, concrete curbs, and 375 meters of concrete sidewalk. Sanitary and watermain service connections were installed for the new industrial units, and decorative street lighting poles were added, along with directionally drilled service conduit and cables. To eliminate ditches and raise the site to final grade, 2,700m³ of fill was imported, with all excavated material reused on-site to fill low areas.
Despite the road’s narrow width, Morven Construction maintained one lane of traffic throughout the project and ensured access for both vehicles and pedestrians to all businesses. The project was completed efficiently, meeting all specifications while minimizing disruption to the surrounding area.
